The C-GCC baseball team traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Ripken Experience the week of March 11.  The Twins played seven games in four days, playing Illinois Valley Community College and Northampton Community College on the first day.  Coming out strong, the Twins were able to shutout Illinois Valley for the win, 2 – 0.  Freshman Phillip Proper gave an excellent effort as he pitched a shutout and allowed only two hits.  Later that day would prove to be more difficult as they took on Northampton Community College.  Joseph Visconti hit a double in the fourth inning to score the Twins only run of the game.  The Twins would lose 8 – 1. 

                Tuesday the Twins faced Genesee Community College, and went up on them 5-0 in the first inning.  That lead would diminish in the bottom of the second with a rally by Genesse.  The Twins came up empty the rest of the game as they fall to Genesee Community College 14 – 5.  The next game was versus the Community College of Morris.  The Twins struggled early on against Morris and eventually fell 12 – 0.  Wednesday the Twins played Bergan Community College and lost 15 – 0 after giving up 13 runs early in the game.

                The Twins took on division I Chesapeake College on Thursday evening.  Another tough battle as they neared the end of their week.  Shane Hotaling scored hit a double to drive in the only run for the Twins as they fall 14 – 1.  For their last game of the week C-GCC played Camden Community College. The Twins went down 2-0 in the top of the first.  They would end the inning on top though thanks in part to a Hunter Goodacre two RBI double.  It was a close game with both teams fighting for runs but in the end Camden came out on top 9-4.

                Overall the team played well, the competition at the Ripken experience is very tough and playing seven games in four days is not easy. A lot of good came from the trip and now the coaches have a better idea of what they have and what the team needs to work on. The Twins next game is scheduled for April 1st as they open up their regular season at Orange County Community College.
